Description :

The Salaca river is situated in the North Vidzeme Biosphere Reserve, Latvia.

Meeting customers at your location(hotel, hostel, etc…) around 8:30 am. After breakfast, head to Salaca. This trip can last from 1:45 to 2:15 hours, depending on where the canoe begins. A brunch will be served before the start of the boat, water and snacks will be available during the trip.

We offer two options. A canoe trip can take:
– 4 – 5 hours from Mērnieki to Salacgrīva (19 km)
– 6 – 8 hours from rest area at P15 8 km NW from Mērnieki to Salacgrīva (29 km)

These charts are approximate as they depend on the speed of the river run, the pace it is rowing, and the weather conditions.

You can improvise stops to visit different places of interest while traveling.

At the end of the canoe trip, we take the client to his initial location.

Nature landscapes, bird and animal watching, various objects – Mērnieku mill, Mūņu and Silvēveru dams, rivers (Norena, Korģene, Jaunupe), Vecsalaca manor and park, bridges (former Ainaži – Valmiera narrow-gauge railway bridge, Vecsalaca and Salacgrīva bridges).

Sandstone cliffs

Red, Upeskalnu and Rostu cliffs.

Slow flow through intact environment

Meadows, forests, Vecsalaca manor and park.

Lots of fish

Bats, pike, perch, bream, salmon.

Animal watching

Wolves, deers, elks, foxes, lynx.
